Mercedes and her team managed my finding an apartment in Barcelona during a stressful time. I had a hard time getting appointments with brokers because of my lack of language skills and my unusual situation (no spanish work contract). Mercedes team did a great job- a team member researched apartments, sending them to me to look at, and then made appointments for me to go visit them. They visited the apartment with me, translating any questions or concerns that I had. When it came time to place an offer on an apartment, Mercedes and her team looked over the contract, helped negotiate terms, and once again translated for me. Once I signed the contract, Mercedes again helped out by securing a difficult to get appointment for padrón (Spanish residency requirement when moving). I rented a beautiful apartment through her when I studied abroad from January to March 2023, and I could not have been more pleased with my experience working with her. We retired to Spain from the US in the Summer of 2017. Our apartment search started much earlier. Our sister put us in touch with Mercedes. We made a visit to Spain in March 2017 to decide in which city/town we wanted to live and decided the Sitges area was right for us. It was during that visit we met in person and talked through the do's and don'ts of apartment hunting in Spain. Mercedes also arranged for us to meet with another real estate person in one of the other cities under consideration. We were so lucky to have access to someone who knew the area and who could answer all our questions. We did not choose that town, but we do still visit and take our visiting US guests there.

We planned a second visit for early May with the purpose to find that perfect place. In preparation for the visit, we made a list of our must-haves and nice-to-haves and sent the list to Mercedes with the URLs of a few listings. They did the research and provided feedback on things like whether or not the location was good, the deposit was too much, or if the apartment had already been rented. We sent more listings; they did more research. As our visit neared, we finalized the list and they arranged the appointments working with one of the local real estate agencies.

We set out to visit the various properties and visited several places, none of them really hitting all the must-have items. Mercedes was extremely patient and understanding. She made us feel reassured that the right place was out there and never made us feel pressured into settling for something less than we wanted. They knew what we were looking for and when we visited the last place, which is our home now, we all knew it was "THE ONE". 

Mercedes provided her expertise handling the lease paperwork, reviewed the contract and made recommendations for changes to protect us. If we had any questions, they were answered. If we had a concern, she advised on whether it was a valid concern or not. She explained the differences in how leases work in the US versus Spain.

We have been in our apartment for 9 months and we are still pinching ourselves. With regularity, we express our excitement and disbelief that we are living in Spain, in such a great home, in such a great location.
